The Senior Developer: Financial Planning and Development (FP&A Platforms is a member of the product finance/IT team that is responsible for the development and execution of strategic initiatives and imperatives related to the financial planning and analysis workstream.
Responsibilities for this role include both “front end” (i.e. reports, input forms), and “back end” (i.e. script logic, BAdI’s) development. In addition, this role requires learning the Scrum/Agile framework to help our team continue its transition to a Scrum change methodology.
The Senior Developer, FP&A Platforms is expected to:
Understand how various Finance teams use SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC).
Understand the financial planning, forecast, and management reporting processes within Merck/MSD.
Utilize Agile/Scrum principles for BPC development.
Develop sophisticated solutions in BPC to solve ambiguous tasks.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain “Front End” BPC Objects (Input Forms, Reports, Data Transformations).
Develop and maintain “Back End” BPC Objects (BAdI’s/Script Logic).
Understand complex data integrations using Business Warehouse (BW) and other technologies.
Collaborate with business users to gather requirements and solve complex problems.
Manipulate and interrogate transaction data within BPC.
Develop and maintain BPC master data.
Understand and configure BPC Security and Work Status.
Build unique/creative solutions to meet various business requirements as needed.
Travel: 10%.
Education Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS
Required Experience and Skills:
Proficiency in MS Excel and other Office 365 tools.
4-7 years’ experience with BPC and Financial Planning & Analysis processes, methods, functionalities, and activities.
Strong prioritization, collaboration, and communication skills.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Experience working with financial systems.
Experience working on Agile teams.
Knowledge of Scrum framework.
Visual Basic for Application (VBA).
SAP BAdI’s and ABAP.
Experience with SAP BW and ECC.
