Job Description

The Senior Clinical Imaging Scientist (Sr. Principal Scientist) works with Imaging Leads to support clinical teams in the use of medical imaging in clinical trials, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met and of high quality. The Sr CIS also leads cross-functional operational and scientific initiatives with strategic importance across multiple clinical development programs.
This position will work closely with the Head of Clinical Imaging, Imaging Operations Lead and other Clinical Imaging Scientists to provide support internally and externally, as follows:
Provide day-to-day oversight of key imaging deliverables on trials
Interface with internal stakeholders and external collaborators (such as imaging service vendors) to ensure seamless execution and support for the imaging component of clinical trials
Become an expert in at least one group of disease indications, supporting internal and external teams while applying efficiencies and standards developed while supporting the portfolio
Execute and manage existing imaging strategies for early and late stage clinical trial support
Exercise foresight and judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding complex imaging projects
Work across departments to advance imaging processes, and as needed, challenge the status quo to foster innovation
Provide recommendations to enhance technologic imaging strategies and support systems
Work with quality and compliance teams for quality-related decision making internally, and to support audits of imaging service providers
Apply understanding of regulatory requirements to support questions related to a filing or regulatory strategy related to imaging
Support industry presence for our company in clinical imaging at national meetings
Support internal initiatives (as agreed upon) and collaborations with a focus on process improvement, identifying solutions and recommending a course of action
Make complex decisions and troubleshoot in ambiguous situations across departments ensuring standardization and implementation of imaging strategies across cross-functional teams
Regularly interact as an imaging subject matter expert with clinical management in early and late stage clinical trials establishing a track record of successfully applying high level scientific judgement in complex situations
Develop expertise and leadership in topics and processes that apply to and affect the entire program
Lead strategic initiatives that affect the company’s strategies more broadly, also serving as the clinical imaging representative in settings where multiple stakeholder groups collaborate on projects with program-wide impact
May provide strategic direction through leadership of up to three direct reports
Qualifications
Education Minimum Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree required
Required Experience and Skills:
At least 15 years of experience supporting clinical development in industry
Knowledge of the use of imaging in clinical trials for evaluation of efficacy and safety
Skill in authoring clinical imaging operations documents for trials using imaging for evaluation of efficacy and safety
Regulatory experience supporting drug filings
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Master’s degree or equivalent completed, or currently enrolled in a Master’s program
Management experience
Experience collaborating with colleagues in cross-functional groups to improve and implement processes required for complex imaging deliverables
