We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our Data Rich Measurements team, within the Analytical Enabling Technologies organization, located in West Point, Pennsylvania. 

Primary Responsibilities:

In this role, an individual will work with a team of scientists developing and applying innovative data rich, process analytical technologies to enable and enhance vaccine development. This Senior Scientist role is a laboratory-based scientific position tasked with solving complex analytical challenges in an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment to ultimately enable and enhance vaccine process and formulation development. The successful candidate must be able to effectively collaborate in a fast-paced, integrated, multidisciplinary team environment. The successful candidate must also have a strong background in analytical research and technology development, including process analytical technology, in which a clear ability to perform independent, impactful scientific innovation must be demonstrated. The successful candidate will be expected to solve challenging scientific problems via implementation of innovative analytical techniques, including but not limited to, spectroscopy (Raman, infrared, fluorescence, UV-Vis, etc.), chemical & electrochemical sensors, light scattering tools, microscopy, in-line or on-line measurement strategies, in situ particle analysis, chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, chemometrics, multivariate data analysis, machine learning, etc. The successful candidate will ultimately implement analytical methods that interface directly with the process stream to monitor and control critical quality attributes of vaccines across broad phases of development, from preclinical through commercialization. Finally, the successful candidate will join a diverse group of scientific problem solvers who are dedicated to creating the life-changing medicines of tomorrow.

Education Minimum Requirement: 

  • A Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Science or a closely-related field

Required Experience and Skills: 

  • Strong background and experience in data rich analytical measurement technology, including process analytical technology

  • Demonstrated superb scientific ability through publications and presentations in scientific conferences

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated creativity, and strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to deliver complex objectives under aggressive timelines in a rapidly changing environment

  • Ability to work in a team environment with cross-functional interactions

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Postdoctoral research experience is strongly preferred

  • Strong background in leveraging a broad range of analytical tools, including spectroscopic, chromatographic and electrochemical methodologies

  • Strong background in data analysis, including chemometrics, multivariate data analysis, and machine learning

  • Experience in new technology research and analytical method development

  • Experience leading small teams of technical personnel and analytical projects

  • Evidence of cross-functional collaboration in an academic or industrial setting

  • Experience with analysis of vaccines, biological molecules, bioconjugates, or general large molecule characterization

  • Motivated to learn new skills, willingness to take on new challenges, and scientific curiosity
