Job Description

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the head of analysis and reporting standards, this position supports the development and delivery of efficient, flexible, and modular analysis and reporting and submission standards that can be used for drug and/or vaccine projects across all therapeutic areas. Adheres to standard operating procedures and guidelines established by the department.  The position is a key collaborator within the statistical programming organization to gather and document user requirements for statistical programming deliverables.

Primary Activities:

  • Support the development and validation of global programming standards for safety analysis and reporting

  • Validate global programming standards for efficacy analysis and reporting

  • Design and develop programming algorithms in R, R shiny, and its ecosystem, under guidance of  staff with extensive expertise in clinical trial A&R standards development

  • Provide technical consultation and analytical support to statistical programmers and statisticians in R, R shiny, and its ecosystem

  • Collaborate with project team members, partners in driving R packages and Shiny app development following our Company's standards, processes

  • Contribute to development and delivery of R training to statistical programmers

  • Assure deliverable quality and compliance with departmental SOPs and good programming practices

Skills

Education and Minimum Requirement:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Life Sciences, Engineering or related field plus 2-4 years programming experience in a clinical trial environment

  • MS in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Life Sciences, Engineering or related field

Department Required Skills and Experience:

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to negotiate and collaborate effectively

  • Good written, oral, and presentation skills

  • Takes direction effectively and completes tasks at a project level; ability to collaborate with key stakeholders

Position Specific Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong R programming skills 

  • An interest in the development and maintenance of departmental standards

  • Ability to quickly and effectively learn new programming techniques and data structures

  • Takes direction effectively and completes programming tasks under the guidance of a senior programmer

  • Knowledge and understanding of CDISC SDTM and ADaM analysis dataset standards

  • An interest to advance career by investing in development activities and taking on tasks with increasing levels of challenge and responsibility

** Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to develop and maintain flexible and efficient analysis and reporting standard SAS macros

  • Experience working in Unix/Linux environment

  • Good working knowledge of reporting processes (SOPs) and software development life-cycle (SDLC)

  • Knowledge or experience with Linked data, natural language processing

  • Knowledge of XML, data structures – RDBMS, graph database

  • Ability to comprehend analysis plans which may describe methodology to be programmed; understanding of statistical terminology and concepts

  • Ability and interest to work across cultures and geographies

  • Expertise in version control tools (e.g. git, github, bitbucket)

  • Active in professional societies
